A Note From the Storyteller...
Every year around the holidays, the late, great Rush Limbaugh would share what he called The True Story of Thanksgiving with his beloved radio audience. When he passed on, my show replaced his on several radio stations around the country. As a huge fan of Rush, it was a bittersweet move, to say the least.
When the next Thanksgiving rolled around, fans of Rush began calling my show and asking me to share “The True Story of Thanksgiving” as Rush had done every year. I politely declined.
You see, it wasn’t my story to tell. However…
That same Christmas, I decided to start my own on-air tradition. And so, I shared one of my favorite stories with my audience. It’s a story that has resonated with me since the first time I heard it. I called it The Untold Story of Christmas and it was very, very well received.
The next year I shared it again. The year after that, I shared it yet again. Much like Rush Limbaugh’s story, reading these words on my show has now become one of my favorite annual traditions.
It’s a different perspective on a magnificent event in our human history.
I will continue to read this story for as long as I am behind a microphone. I hope now, that you have your own copy of The Untold Story of Christmas, you will share it with the ones you love, every year as part of your holiday traditions.
I think Rush would like that.
